Beginning in the fall of 2017, Dr. Michele Moore, our previous superintendent, and our Board of School Trustees initiated the Artesian Business PRIDE ™ program at Martinsville High School. A project to ensure our students receive the best job opportunities upon graduation.
The Artesian PRIDE™ program is an opportunity to develop the soft skills of our students through positive encouragement with the goal of increasing their marketability to future employers.
PRIDE™ stands for Persistence, Respectfulness, Initiative, Dependability and Efficiency, and was originally developed by educators and business leaders in Southern Indiana as a tool to help prepare students for the workforce or college.
The program is open to all high school seniors and runs the entire academic year. Participants who successfully complete the program will receive a PRIDE™ sash to wear at graduation and a Work Ethic Certificate signed by Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb.
The Artesian Business PRIDE ™ program also includes a partnership with businesses in Morgan County for the purpose of growing the young workforce in our community.
As a partner, business members either serve on the PRIDE ™ Advisory Council to promote and assist with the program or by guaranteeing job interviews to students who complete the program.
Please note that interview opportunities have NO end date. Students could receive an interview directly out of high school or after the completion of their educational initiatives.
To be honored with a certificate and sash, students must have successfully completed the following criteria by the end of the school year:
