The MSD of Martinsville is pleased to announce that high school student Eli Mock is one of 13 students in Indiana who has been selected to receive the 2018 C. Eugene Cato Memorial Scholarship Award by the Indiana High School Athletic Association, Inc. (IHSAA). Each student will receive a $2,500 scholarship for their accomplishments.
The award is given to student-athletes who have shown excellence in academics, participation in school and community extra-curricular activities, and exhibited good sportsmanship, character, and citizenship.
Mock is ranked third out of his graduating class of 355 students. In addition, he has lettered four years in tennis and twice in basketball. Mock has also earned awards as a participant in the Spell Bowl and Academic Super Bowl. He is also a member of the MHS Student Council, Key Club, and Spanish Club.
For his community, Eli is active in Habitat for Humanity, where he has served as a habitat ambassador, and with his church where he volunteers much of his time.
Mock will be honored on Thursday, April 19th during the Thomas A. Brady Sports Achievement Awards Ceremony at the Indiana Roof Ballroom in Indianapolis.
Sponsorships for the awards ceremony include Methodist Sports Medicine, originators of the program, Indiana Farm Bureau, Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Fever, Indiana Pacers, Sport Graphics, Inc., and WTHR-13.
