Hello Artesian Families,
Thank you again for your support and understanding as we adjust to the changing effects of COVID-19 for our students, staff and community. Our decisions made this year have been taken only after thoughtful consideration and discussions with MSD principals, administration, Morgan County Department of Health and the Indiana State Department of Health – all who are focused on the education and well-being of our students and staff. With new information, we have decided to change our color status to RED for all schools next week (Monday, November 23 and Tuesday, November 24).
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 19 AND FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 20
Families, our prekindergarten through 6th-grade students will continue to come to school this week.
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 23 AND TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 24
All schools will be on the RED Stoplight from our Back to School plan. All students will be eLearning from home.
Please note there are no additional changes to after-school or extra-curricular activities at this time.
THANKSGIVING BREAK
School will not be in session from Wednesday, November 25 through Friday, November 27 to observe our Thanksgiving holiday. Please enjoy time with your family.
WHY ARE WE MAKING THIS DECISION?
The Indiana State Department of Health released their county numbers today, and even though Morgan County stayed within the color orange, our community positivity rate is up to 9% from last week’s 8% and is anticipated to rise. County buildings are now closed to slow the spread. Within Wooden and MHS, many of our staff remain in quarantine and for this reason, we are unable to sufficiently supervise students. In addition, the number of students in quarantine is growing. We’re hoping to minimize exposure by continuing student education through eLearning.
NEXT STEPS
-Families, we will contact you during Thanksgiving break to communicate our plan for the following week (November 30 through December 4).
-Throughout COVID, our Special Services (Education) teachers of record, 504 coordinators and staff who work with students or manage cases have contacted students and families directly and will continue to do so next week.
-Our food service department will contact you with meal options for students.
-Our COVID Dashboard will now be updated each week on Monday and Wednesday. To learn more -> COVID DASHBOARD
Families, stay safe, and be well.
