The Martinsville High School chapter of the National Honor Society is proud to have been inducting new members since 1935. The National Honor Society emphasis is on the four pillars of character, scholarship, leadership and service. Throughout the year, members of our chapter serve as role models for other students. In addition to the strong academic records that established our eligibility for membership, our chapter members are leaders in many student organizations, and we serve our school and community through many activities including a fall food drive, sponsoring an angel child at Christmas, making blankets for local shelters, and participating in the Pennies for Patients Campaign.
Any Sophomore or Junior who has a minimum grade point average of 3.75 at the end of the first trimester is eligible for possible selection into the National Honor Society. These students receive an application form to complete and must write an essay about a community service experience that made an impact in their life. Selection is based on four criteria: scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
