Dear Martinsville School Community,
Metropolitan School District of Martinsville announces that Dr. William Roberson will remain as the Interim Superintendent through June 2022. Dr. Roberson has been serving the district since July 1, 2021. On November 15, 2021, the Board voted to extend his contract through June 2022.
Dr. Roberson said, “I am honored to serve this great school district. I believe that things are going really well inside Martinsville’s school buildings. My goal is to provide continuity and support moving forward with the school community and the projects the district is pursuing.”
“We would like to thank Dr. Roberson for his commitment to servant leadership at the district,” stated Mr. Don Lipps, President, MSD of Martinsville Board of School Trustees. “His
partnership and experience have been invaluable in guiding us, and we are excited about the remainder of the school year.”
As previously planned, in January, the Board will open applications for a permanent superintendent of schools, begin interviewing in mid-March and select a candidate by the May 2022 School Board meeting.
“Thank you, teachers, staff, administration and parents for your support this year. Choosing the next superintendent is very significant for our school community. It will be the most important decision that this Board will make,” stated Don Lipps.
