COVID – 19 Update

Hello Artesian Families,

The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) has updated its COVID-19 Control Measures based on the newest recommendations from the CDC.  The MSD of Martinsville is mandated by IC 16-41-2-21 to follow the published control measures that detail quarantine and isolation of students and staff.

Students ages 12 and older are now eligible for their booster.  If you have elected to have your child vaccinated, and he/she has received the second dose of Pfizer/Modera more than 6 months ago or Johnson & Johnson 2 months ago, he/she will need to have the booster to avoid quarantining if identified as a close contact.  Just a friendly reminder, that the COVID-19 vaccine is NOT REQUIRED for students or staff at the MSD of Martinsville.  It is the personal choice of each family and individual to seek vaccination.  Please consult with your healthcare provider if you have specific questions regarding the vaccine.

Individuals who are identified as close contacts in the building, bus, or outside of school that have been vaccinated within the last 6 months with Pfizer/Moderna, vaccinated in the last 2 months with Johnson & Johnson, tested positive and recovered from COVID-19 infection within last 90 days, are boosted, or were exposed in a school environment where all individuals were fully masked (bus) will be able to avoid quarantine if they wear a mask for 10 days after exposure.  The requirement for these individuals to wear a mask is listed in the COVID-19 Control Measures. This is a change from where this group previously could remain unmasked.

Morgan County is currently experiencing high community spread of COVID-19 with the 7-day positivity rate at 25.2% as of January 6, 2022.  We kindly ask that you complete the Daily COVID-19 Screener each day prior to sending your student to school.  If your child has any symptom(s) or is not feeling well PLEASE do not send them to school.  Please remember sending your child to school while experiencing symptoms could mean other students and our staff will eventually be identified as close contacts who need to quarantine or worse test positive themselves.  The MSD of Martinsville is committed to providing in-person instruction. We can only accomplish that if our staff members are present and healthy.

Please contact us with questions.

Respectfully,

Jayne Burke
