The Board of Trustees of the Metropolitan School District of Martinsville announces that Dr. William E. Roberson was selected this week and is now serving as the MSD of Martinsville’s Transition Consultant at the Administrative Office. Representing the School District as the Transition Consultant, Dr. Roberson will be leading the Team of Principals and Directors in the next few weeks in preparation for the start of the 2021-2022 school year.

School Board President Don Lipps said, “Martinsville welcomes the opportunity to work with Dr. Roberson and looks forward to the immediate positive impact his leadership will provide to our district.” Roberson said, “I am excited to be here in Martinsville. I feel I have much to contribute as the district explores its leadership options for the future.”

As a lifelong Morgan County resident, Dr. Roberson has dedicated 53 years to education in Indiana and remains actively involved. Lipps said, “Dr. Roberson brings a wealth of experience in so many areas and levels.”

Dr. Roberson has served as teacher, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent and has earned District 4 Superintendent of the Year Award, the Indiana Department of Education Bell Ringer Award, the Sagamore of the Wabash by the Indiana Governor, Morgan County Community Foundation’s Make a Difference Award, the Tiger Pride Award from Yorktown Community Schools, Ambassador of the Arts at Monrovia High School, and the Monroe-Gregg School District’s Educator of the Year Award.

At the next Martinsville School Board meeting in July, the Board expects to name the Interim Superintendent.
