YELLOW STOPLIGHT
Wednesday, November 25, 2020

Hello MSD Families,

Thank you for your patience as we again determine the effect of COVID on educational instruction for our district. For the MSD of Martinsville, after Thanksgiving Break, our high school will still be on the Red Stoplight (eLearning from home), and our PreK through 8th-grade students will be on the Yellow Stoplight (two days of in-school instruction and three days of eLearning from home). We will stay on this plan until staffing returns to normal, and we are confident we can safely supervise all students in person.

We are committed to in-school instruction for our students and are working to have all students return to the classroom as soon as possible; however, at this time, we still have many staff who are impacted by contact tracing results, making supervision of students unsafe at the high school level. In addition, we have had an additional 24 students at Martinsville High School test positive for COVID since going red on November 5, 2020. While the state positivity rate decreased, the 7-day positivity rate in Morgan County has continued to increase to 13.28 (last week 9.23%). This is higher than all surrounding counties, besides Hendricks, and the state 7-day positivity rate. Please also note that we continue to work closely with our local health department who is assisting us with decisions to keep our students and staff safe.
